Badgers Set to Face Mavericks in Homestand Finale
Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s basketball team (4-1, 0-0 B1G) will conclude its three-game homestand by hosting the Omaha Mavericks (1-3, 0-0 Summit) this Saturday, November 21, at 1:00 p.m. (CT) at the Kohl Center. Fans can catch the game via B1G+ and on 1070 WTSO-AM.
The Badgers have showcased impressive talent this season with all 15 players contributing on the court. Leading the charge is Serah Williams, who averages 19.8 points per game, followed by Ronnie Porter at 15.0 ppg and Carter McCray at 9.6 ppg. Wisconsin’s defense has been particularly strong, limiting opponents to a shooting percentage of 39.2% and averaging 3.2 blocks and 7.2 steals per game. The team has also excelled on the boards, out-rebounding rivals 40.2 to 34.4.
In their last outing, Wisconsin triumphed over the UIC Flames in a close 61-57 game, with Williams surpassing 1,000 career points, becoming the 29th Badger to achieve this milestone in just 66 games—a testament to her exceptional talent. She finished that game with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
This matchup marks the first-ever encounter between the Badgers and Mavericks, as their previous scheduled game in December 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Omaha, currently led by Grace Cave with an average of 15.8 points, has struggled against Big Ten teams, holding an 0-5 record in such contests.
Following Saturday’s game, Wisconsin will head to Cancun, Mexico, for the Cancun Challenge from November 28-30, where they will compete against San Diego State, Providence, and VCU.
