Early in person absentee voting in Wisconsin has seen record-breaking turnout, with nearly one million absentee ballots requested as of Friday morning. 70% of those have already been sent in, with nearly 300,000 of them being cast through in person absentee voting. This marks a nearly 40% increase from the 2020 election.
Wisconsin’s chief election official, Meagan Wolfe, praised election workers for their hard work in handling the rush of voters, and Secretary of State Sara Godlewski is preparing for a close election night. She emphasized the importance of voting, urging voters to make their voices heard by casting their ballot.
For those planning to mail their ballot, it must be sent out no later than Tuesday to ensure it reaches the clerk’s office in time for election day on Tuesday, November 5. The Wisconsin Election Commission advises voters to check with their local clerk’s office for information on in person absentee voting availability in their community.
The high turnout for early voting indicates strong voter engagement in the upcoming election. To stay updated on the latest news, download the Northern News Now app or the Northern News Now First Alert weather app. Copyright 2024 Northern News Now.
