Marathon High School wrestlers showed strong performances at the recent competition, with Marshall Venske placing first in the JV 121-131 category and scoring 15.5 team points. Venske won all three of his matches by tech fall and falls. Cc Kasza placed third in the JV 133-146 category, while Tyler Seefeldt placed third in the JV 156-166 category. Alex Doty secured second place in the JV 161-167 category. Darrin Vesely placed fourth in the JV 226-271 category.
The school is now seeking nominations for Athlete of the Week and Team of the Week. They are also recognizing college athletes from the area and featuring former standout competitors and difference makers. Nominations for the Pancakes or Waffles feature, highlighting top area athletes, can be submitted online. The school is also looking to honor coaches, booster club leaders, and other volunteers who have made a difference in central Wisconsin sports. David Keech, a retired teacher and sportswriter, encourages community involvement in celebrating local athletic achievements.
