Digital Power Optimization, Inc. (DPO) has announced plans to build a $200 million high-performance computing facility in Wisconsin Rapids, at the site of the former Verso paper mill. This state-of-the-art facility will enable up to 20 megawatts of AI computing, filling a growing need for high-density rack space in the tech industry. DPO is partnering with Billrud and the Consolidated Water Power Company to power the site.
DPO CEO Andrew Webber highlighted the importance of speed-to-energization in today’s market and praised the partnership with CWPCo for allowing the facility to come online ahead of schedule. Wisconsin Rapids Mayor Matt Zacher expressed excitement about the investment and hopes it will attract more businesses to the area.
While the exact number of jobs created is unclear, DPO aims to have the facility operational by 2026. This announcement comes shortly after Microsoft revealed plans to build a data center near Kenosha, further solidifying Wisconsin’s position as a hub for tech development.
