Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul’s office has filed 10 additional felony charges against two attorneys and a Trump aide for their involvement in a plan to falsely claim that Donald Trump won Wisconsin in the 2020 election. The individuals facing charges are Kenneth Chesebro, Jim Troupis, and Mike Roman. The charges include forgery and defrauding Republican electors who cast their ballots for Trump, despite Joe Biden winning the state.
The accused allegedly created a fake document claiming Trump won Wisconsin’s Electoral College votes and attempted to deliver it to Vice President Mike Pence for certification. The additional charges carry a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The case has sparked controversy, with Troupis filing multiple motions to dismiss the charges, arguing that no crime was committed. The fake electors, who claimed they acted to preserve their legal options in case Trump was declared the winner, settled a lawsuit filed against them by the real Biden electors. The accused individuals are scheduled to appear in court in Madison.
