Wisconsin Women’s Cross Country Prepares for NCAA Championships at Home

Madison, Wis. – The No. 14 Wisconsin women’s cross country team is gearing up to host the NCAA Championships at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course on Saturday, Nov. 23. This highly anticipated event marks the culmination of the 2024 cross country season, with the women’s championship race kicking off at 9:20 a.m. CT, followed by the men’s race at 10:10 a.m. CT. The competition will be televised live on ESPNU, starting at 8:30 a.m. CT.

Fans planning to attend are encouraged to secure their admission tickets and parking permits in advance. Admission costs $20, while parking permits are available for $5; both transactions will be cashless. Spectators are invited to check the venue’s website for further details.

The women’s field at the NCAA Championships is highly competitive, featuring top-ranked teams including BYU, Oregon, and Northern Arizona. Wisconsin will be facing fierce competition from fellow Big Ten rivals, notably Oregon, which recently secured victories at the Big Ten Championships and NCAA West Regional.

The Badgers earned their place in the championships with a strong performance, finishing second at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, bolstered by four All-Region honors for their runners. Shea Ruhly, a standout this season, led the team with a 12th-place finish at the regional.

This marks Wisconsin’s fourth consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships, where they aim to improve upon last year’s finish. Notably, the Badgers have seen success on their home course this season, consistently placing in the top ten at prominent meets. The championships not only highlight the women’s team but also mark the shared success of both Wisconsin cross country programs, as they’ve both secured their spots in this national competition for four consecutive years.
