Former University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow was recently fired by the board of regents after it was discovered that he and his wife, Carmen Wilson, had made sexually explicit adult pornographic videos. Wilson, who was previously a college administrator at Dickinson State University and a finalist for a president position at Southwest State University in Minnesota, appeared in these videos with Gow under the account name “Sexy Happy Couple.” The couple also has a YouTube channel called “Sexy Healthy Cooking” where they cook meals with porn actors.
Gow, who was set to retire at the end of the spring semester, has argued that the university violated his free speech rights by firing him. The Board of Regents made the decision unanimously and in a hastily convened closed meeting in late December. Gow’s tenure at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse may also come under review following this scandal.
The news of Gow and Wilson’s involvement in adult films has shocked the education community and raised questions about professionalism and ethics within higher education institutions. As more details emerge about this controversy, it serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding standards of conduct and integrity in academic leadership positions.
