A new collaborative initiative, the Central Wisconsin AI Center (CWAIC), is set to launch in Wausau this week, aiming to promote the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) through workforce training and industry integration in central and northcentral Wisconsin. Partners include Northcentral Technical College, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the University of Wisconsin-Stout, the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce, and Midpoint Consulting.
CWAIC will serve as a hub for AI education, business development, and workforce transformation, providing training programs, educational pathways, and industry-specific AI solutions. The center’s mission is to empower workers and businesses with the skills and knowledge to implement AI technologies in various sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and healthcare.
Leaders from NTC, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, and other partners will discuss the center’s impact on the region at the media event on Friday, Nov. 1. They emphasize the importance of building a culture of responsible AI use to drive productivity, sustainability, and innovation in central Wisconsin.
UW-Stevens Point Chancellor Thomas Gibson highlights their commitment to integrating AI technologies into K-12 education pipelines to prepare students for a changing technological landscape. UW-Stout Chancellor Katherine Frank emphasizes their support for AI innovation-ready companies through product development and integration expertise.
President and CEO of the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce, Dave Eckmann, stresses the importance of equipping companies and professionals with AI tools for growth and prosperity in the face of rapidly advancing technological change. The CWAIC is expected to play a crucial role in developing Wisconsin’s AI talent pool and fostering the next generation of AI-driven solutions.
