Lil Durk, a rapper from Chicago, was arrested in Florida on a charge of murder for hire. Five individuals associated with his hip hop collective, “Only the Family,” were also arrested on a federal indictment in California for their alleged involvement in a murder for hire that resulted in death. The indictment stated that the murder was done in revenge for the death of another group member, Dayvon Bennett, also known as King Von. The charging document detailed the events leading up to the murder, including a physical altercation at a nightclub in Atlanta. The individuals charged in the indictment used interstate facilities such as planes and cars to track and attempt to kill the intended target, resulting in the death of a passenger in the target’s vehicle instead. The indictment also mentioned the use of firearms and a machine gun in the crime. It is unclear at this time if the accused individuals have retained attorneys. Lil Durk is the founder of the collective, “Only the Family,” and has been linked to the murder for hire through his association with the group.
