Suspect in highway mass shooting likely identified as body found during Kentucky manhunt

A body believed to be that of Joseph A. Couch, the suspect in a highway shooting spree in Kentucky, was found by officials in Laurel County. The body was discovered by two state troopers and two civilians who were searching in the woods. The body was found near the crime scene, but the cause of death is still unknown. Officials are confident this brings closure to the manhunt. Vultures circling the area helped lead officials to the body. The gun used in the shooting was purchased legally the same day and the gunman had over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. The shooter had no criminal convictions but had previously made a terrorist threat that was dismissed. A woman who shares a child with Couch received a chilling message just before the shooting.
