Madison Mallards Split Doubleheader with Wisconsin Rapids Rafters
Madison, WI – The Madison Mallards (16-8) kicked off their doubleheader against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (8-17) with an incredible comeback victory but stumbled in the second game on Friday night at Warner Park.
In Game 1, the Rafters surged ahead, taking an 8-0 lead by the sixth inning, thanks in part to Erik Parker and Andre Modugno’s key hits. However, the Mallards executed a remarkable rally, scoring an astonishing 13 runs in the sixth inning. Noah Sheffield initiated the comeback with a two-run double, followed by critical walks. Mikey Bell capped the inning with a go-ahead grand slam, marking his first home run of the season. The final score was 15-9, with Jase Schueller earning his first win.
Game 2 saw a slower pace, with the Rafters finally breaking the scoreless tie in the fifth. They extended their lead to 3-0, but the Mallards fought back in the eighth, narrowing the gap to 3-2. Despite their efforts, the Rafters scored an insurance run in the ninth to win 4-2, splitting the doubleheader. The Mallards will face the Green Bay Rockers next at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday.
