Wisconsin Football Welcomes Commitment from Versatile DB Zachary Taylor
The Wisconsin Badgers football team has bolstered its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of 3-star defensive back Zachary Taylor from Katy, Texas. After a week of no commitments, Taylor announced his decision on social media, choosing Wisconsin over a strong field that included West Virginia, Texas Tech, Pittsburgh, and Houston.
Taylor, a multi-sport athlete who has excelled in track and soccer, brings significant athleticism to the Badgers’ roster. While he has played both cornerback and safety throughout high school, Wisconsin’s coaching staff views him primarily as a safety. His diverse skill set and athletic background have heightened expectations for his potential development in collegiate football.
Currently rated as a 3-star prospect by major recruiting services, Taylor’s ranking could rise substantially before his senior year, with the potential to reach 4-star status. Notably, 247Sports rates him as a borderline 4-star cornerback, positioned 439th nationally and 43rd among cornerbacks. Rivals mirrors this sentiment, giving Taylor a top-tier 3-star rating just shy of a fourth star. Conversely, On3 is less optimistic, rating him as the 926th overall prospect and 83rd among safeties.
With Taylor’s commitment, Wisconsin’s 2026 recruiting class now comprises 12 players, moving the team from 40th to 33rd place in the 247Sports Team Rankings. Notably, he is now the top-ranked player in this class per 247Sports.
As Wisconsin looks to round out its recruiting efforts, attention will shift to pivotal targets, including highly coveted 4-star running back Amari Latimer and several promising wide receivers. The Badgers are gearing up for an exciting recruitment period ahead.
