Wisconsin Football Secures Commitment from Top DB Prospect Zachary Taylor
Wisconsin football has invigorated its 2026 recruiting efforts with the recent commitment of three-star defensive back Zachary Taylor. This move marks a significant boost for the Badgers, elevating Taylor to the status of the highest-ranked recruit in Wisconsin’s current class, surpassing defensive lineman Djidjou Bah.
With Taylor on board, Wisconsin’s recruiting class now consists of 12 commitments, improving its national rank to No. 35 and positioning the Badgers at No. 12 within the Big Ten. These rankings reflect a notable rise from their previous positions of No. 40 and No. 14, respectively.
The Badgers initially experienced a surge in commitments during the early June official visit season, securing five new players over the Memorial Day weekend. However, the momentum faltered when the program entered a nine-day commitment drought from June 4 to June 13, during which it lost several top targets to rival programs, including four-star edge rusher McHale Blade, who committed to Michigan.
Despite these setbacks, Wisconsin retains interest in several elite prospects who have yet to commit, including running back Amari Latimer, wide receiver Jayden Petit, offensive tackle Kamari Blair, and athlete Jackson Ford. Each of these top recruits visited during the pivotal May 30 weekend, and securing commitments from them will be crucial for Wisconsin to achieve its goal of a third consecutive top-25 recruiting class.
