Manhunt for Suspect in Fatal Shootings of Minnesota Lawmakers
MILWAUKEE – Authorities have launched a manhunt for Vance Boelter, 57, a suspect linked to the targeted shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses. The tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning, resulting in the deaths of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their Brooklyn Park home. Meanwhile, Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were shot at their residence in Champlin but are currently recovering after surgery.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz expressed cautious optimism regarding Hoffman’s recovery while emphasizing the serious nature of the situation. Police identified Boelter as a person of interest, stating he may have posed as a police officer at the time of the attacks. Descriptions suggest he might now be wearing a cowboy hat and a dark shirt. Law enforcement continues to investigate whether additional individuals are involved.
Boelter has ties to southeast Wisconsin, holding degrees from the now-closed Cardinal Stritch University and previously employed at Johnsonville sausage maker. FOX6 News has reached out to verify his employment and gather further insights, as investigators pursue leads in the ongoing case.
