Voter Registration Alerts Sent by Wisconsin Elections Commission
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) is reminding registered voters who have not participated in elections over the past four years to expect a postcard labeled “Official Voter Registration Notice.” This initiative stems from state law, requiring the WEC to connect with inactive voters.
Voters must respond within 30 days to confirm their registration; failure to do so will result in deactivation, requiring re-registration for future elections. To remain registered, individuals need to certify their residency and unchanged name by returning the postcard by July 15. Those who do not respond by this date will see their voter records deactivated on July 31.
For recipients who have changed their name or address, re-registration is necessary, which can be completed online at the MyVote website, via mail, or in person at the clerk’s office or polling places on Election Day. Voters who believe they have participated in elections during this period but receive a postcard should contact their municipal clerk for clarification.
Voters are also encouraged to verify their registration status through official channels rather than relying on independent groups.
