Schweitzer Mountain Resort Launches Expanded Summer Adventures
SANDPOINT, Idaho — Schweitzer Mountain Resort, the largest mountain destination in Washington and Idaho, officially kicked off its summer season on June 13, unveiling a range of new outdoor experiences. Guests can now enjoy expanded mountain biking trails, improved wellness services, and exciting mountaintop concerts.
Tom Chasse, president and COO of Schweitzer, emphasized that the resort is committed to evolving its summer offerings to cater to both adventure enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation. "With the addition of new trails, special events, and elevated wellness offerings at Cambium Spa, we have something for everyone," he stated.
This summer, the mountain biking network has expanded to over 40 miles of trails, featuring the newly completed Collab Trail and a challenging black diamond technical trail. Riders can take advantage of the picturesque 12-mile descent from the summit to the valley floor, boasting over 4,000 feet of vertical drop.
In collaboration with local organizations, including SMP Development, the City of Sandpoint, and the Selkirk Recreation District, Schweitzer is enhancing the trail system in the nearby Little Sandcreek Watershed. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive network for hikers, mountain bikers, and trail runners of all skill levels. Emily Strizich, executive director of Pend Oreille Pedalers, noted the importance of community involvement, stating, "These new trails represent the kind of community Sandpoint is becoming."
The Lower Basin will feature routes for beginners, intermediates, and advanced riders, linking Sandpoint to Schweitzer’s growing trail system. Future developments include even more climbing paths and technical trails, promising to enrich the outdoor experience in the area.
With these new additions, Schweitzer Mountain Resort is set to provide an unforgettable summer of adventure and wellness.
