Yaskawa America Announces Relocation to Wisconsin, Promising Job Growth
Yaskawa America Inc., an industrial robotics manufacturer, is relocating its North American headquarters from Illinois to Wisconsin, signaling a significant investment and job creation for the area. Governor Tony Evers announced the company’s plans to consolidate its operations into a new 800,000-square-foot campus in Franklin, expected to generate over 700 new jobs.
The company is investing $180 million in the project, which will feature a headquarters, a training and lab facility, as well as manufacturing and packaging operations. Yaskawa has already acquired a 200,000-square-foot building in Franklin for $20 million, previously occupied by a packaging firm, and will begin manufacturing robots there.
To support the expansion, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is offering up to $18 million in tax credits, contingent upon meeting job creation and investment benchmarks. Governor Evers emphasized Wisconsin’s strong workforce and advanced manufacturing capabilities, asserting the state’s growing appeal for global companies.
Franklin Mayor John Nelson echoed excitement about the partnership with Yaskawa, noting the city’s supportive role in the development. As Yaskawa celebrates its parent company’s 110th anniversary, local officials express optimism for the future of advanced manufacturing in Wisconsin.
