Press Release: Wisconsin Employers Show Optimism Amid Economic Concerns
Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce recently unveiled its latest employer survey, revealing a complex outlook for businesses across the state. Scott Manley, the organization’s representative, noted an optimistic sentiment, with many leaders anticipating profitability in the coming six months. However, 36% of employers expressed significant concern over the national economy, highlighting a shift in priorities.
Notably, the survey indicates a decline in worry over workforce availability, dropping from 63% to 52%. “The decrease in this concern signals that more people are seeking employment, an encouraging economic indicator,” Manley stated.
Rob Kleman from the Oshkosh Chamber pointed to President Donald Trump’s tariffs as a source of uncertainty, potentially dampening long-term investment. While some businesses may benefit from local supply opportunities, others reliant on international sourcing face challenges.
Kleman emphasized that alongside tariffs, factors like impending tax cuts set to expire and the regulatory environment remain crucial for business sustainability. He noted, “Taxes are still important, and the availability of workforce and laborers is vital, particularly for manufacturers.”
As the year ends, maintaining focus on these economic variables will be essential for Wisconsin’s business landscape.
