Northeast Wisconsin Skies Brightened by ‘Strawberry Moon’

Northeast Wisconsin Enthralled by June’s Spectacular Strawberry Moon

(WLUK) — Last night, Northeast Wisconsin residents were treated to a remarkable sight as June’s full moon, known as the "strawberry moon," lit up the night sky. FOX 11 viewers shared stunning photographs of the moon, which exhibited beautiful shades of red and orange depending on their vantage points.

The term "strawberry moon" derives from its timing, coinciding with the strawberry harvesting season. This year’s full moon was particularly special, as it hung lower in the sky than usual. Generally, June’s full moon is the lowest of the year, but this month’s spectacle marked the lowest position since 2006 and is not expected to be surpassed until June 2043.

As the moon illuminated the nightscape, community members were encouraged to share their own photos, capturing this unique celestial event. The strawberry moon not only delights skywatchers but also serves as a reminder of the beauty and wonder of nature.
