Maine Women’s Hockey Coach Molly Engstrom Inducted into UW Athletics Hall of Fame

MADISON, WI – Maine Women’s Hockey head coach Molly Engstrom is set to be honored with induction into the University of Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame this year, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the sport and her alma mater.

Engstrom, who played a pivotal role in shaping the Wisconsin Badgers Women’s Hockey program, led the team to its first NCAA tournament appearance in 2005. That same year, she earned the prestigious title of All-American and was named a two-time WCHA Defensive Player of the Year, establishing her as a standout player in collegiate hockey.

Beyond her collegiate achievements, Engstrom has an illustrious international career, representing the U.S. on five occasions at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships. Her contributions were instrumental in securing gold medals for Team USA in 2005, 2008, and 2009, along with silver medals in 2004 and 2007.

Engstrom’s Olympic legacy is equally impressive, as she helped the U.S. women’s team clinch a Bronze medal in 2006 and a Silver medal in 2010. Her exceptional skills on the ice earned her recognition as the best defenseman of the 2010 Olympics, further solidifying her status as one of the sport’s greats.
