Wisconsin Swing Voters Express Diverse Opinions on the Trump Administration

Wisconsin Swing Voters Share Mixed Views on Trump’s Early Presidency

MILWAUKEE — A recent focus group conducted by Engagious has revealed a complex picture of Wisconsin swing voters’ opinions on President Donald Trump’s first four months in office. The group, comprising 12 voters who supported President Joe Biden in 2020 but are backing Trump in 2024, included 10 Independents and two Republicans from seven counties, including Milwaukee and Waukesha.

While overall sentiments leaned positive, with nine out of 12 participants approving of Trump’s actions, concerns were voiced regarding his public demeanor. One voter noted, "He’s doing basically what he ran on," while another praised his efforts towards more efficient government spending. However, frustration emerged as one participant remarked, "I love the policies you’re trying to get through, but why do you have to be such an egotistical idiot in public?"

Rich Thau, president of Engagious, emphasized the intensity of opinions shared by the participants, underscoring their potential impact on the upcoming presidential election. Trump previously won Wisconsin by a narrow margin of fewer than 30,000 votes, highlighting the significance of these swing voters in shaping electoral outcomes. Notably, none of the participants expressed support for former Vice President Kamala Harris if given the chance to vote again.
