Many had serious burns and were later transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital for specialized treatment. At Jackson Memorial, 10 patients were reported, with the majority in good condition, while one patient had to be intubated.
Antonio Rivero, who was on the boat with his family, suggested the explosion might have been linked to a fuel leak. Witnesses described the scene, noting a massive fireball and severely burned individuals attempting to escape. Among the rescuers was Bret Triano, who, along with others, helped retrieve victims from the water. One particularly injured individual pleaded for help while expressing his desperation for water.
Emergency responders, including Fort Lauderdale Police and the U.S. Coast Guard, arrived on the scene, examining the damaged boat. Investigations into the cause of the explosion are ongoing, with fire officials and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission leading the inquiry. Remarkably, a dog that was also aboard was rescued unharmed.
