Tragic Collision Claims Three Lives in Marinette County, WI
MARINETTE COUNTY, WI – An investigation is ongoing following a tragic two-vehicle collision that resulted in the deaths of three Wisconsin residents. The victims have been identified as Daniel Mrotek, 60, of Berlin, and Thomas Robe, 71, and his wife Sharon Robe, 68, both of Oak Creek, according to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal accident occurred on Friday, May 23, at around 9:22 p.m. in the Town of Stephenson. Deputies were dispatched after reports came in about the crash. Authorities say Mrotek was driving west on Moonshine Hill Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign, leading to a collision with a vehicle traveling north on County Highway A.
Mrotek was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle, subsequently being pronounced dead at the scene. The Robes also lost their lives in the incident. The sheriff’s office has stated that the investigation into the details surrounding the crash is still active. Marinette County is situated across the Menominee River from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
