Encore! Awards Music Camp Scholarships to Local Students
QUINCY — The Quincy Symphony Orchestra Association’s volunteer council, Encore!, has announced this year’s scholarship recipients for music camps. The 10 students will embark on musical adventures this summer, furthering their talents and experiences.
Among the recipients is Iysis Biggs, a sophomore at Quincy Notre Dame High School and violinist with the Quincy Area Youth Orchestra, who will attend McKendree University. Another notable recipient is Keira Dolieslager, a concertmaster also studying violin, set for the American Suzuki Institute in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
Additional scholarship winners include Allison N. Johnson (bass clarinet and clarinet), Jacob Mays (violin), Noah Schaefer and Michael Spencer (clarinet and guitar, respectively) attending the Illinois Summer Youth Music camp in Champaign. Caroline Stevens and Cecelia Wayland, both involved in various orchestras, will participate in camps at WIU and McKendree University.
Samantha and Savannah Tournear, both juniors at Quincy High School, will enhance their choral skills at the Show Choir Camps of America in Rock Island.
These scholarships, awarded for the 69th year, are made possible by the estate of Martha McCrory and fundraising events such as the Fairy Tale Tea. Encore! remains dedicated to supporting youth music programs and enriching the lives of local students through the arts.
