United Way Diaper Bank Supports Families in Southeast Wisconsin
Milwaukee, WI — The United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County is calling on the community to support its Diaper Bank, aimed at assisting parents in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties. The initiative addresses the pressing need for diapers and wipes among local families, which can be a substantial financial burden.
Karissa Gretebeck, the Corporate Volunteerism and Engagement Manager at United Way, highlighted that the Diaper Bank was launched in 2021 to provide critical support. Many families face challenges affording essential items like diapers, which are necessary for childcare and maintaining employment. The organization currently distributes an average of 30,000 to 35,000 diapers per month, thanks to generous donations.
Community members can help in several ways: monetary contributions allow the organization to purchase needed supplies, while diaper drives can be organized at workplaces or community groups. Physical donations of new and sealed diapers and wipes can be made at the United Way’s Milwaukee office on weekdays. Families in need can also connect with one of the twelve distribution hubs to receive free diapers.
