Christian Employee Files Complaint Against Trump Administration After Dismissal Over Pronoun Policy

EXCLUSIVE: Wisconsin Man Claims Religious Discrimination Over Pronoun Policy

Spencer Wimmer, a Wisconsin resident and devout Christian, is calling on the Trump administration to intervene after being fired from Generac Power Systems. He claims termination stemmed from his refusal to use preferred pronouns that conflict with individuals’ biological sex, prompting a conflict between his faith and his career.

Wimmer, who worked at Generac for five years and received multiple promotions based on positive performance reviews, filed a religious discrimination complaint through the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). He hopes President Trump, under a leadership direction that includes rolling back DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) practices, will address his situation.

In his interview with Fox News Digital, Wimmer described a "heartbreaking" experience after he was reprimanded for "unprofessional" conduct following his assertion to HR that he could not use preferred pronouns due to his deeply held religious beliefs. He outlined that prior to his confrontation with HR, he maintained a positive working relationship with a transgender colleague.

Generac’s HR noted that Wimmer’s request to refrain from using transgender pronouns on religious grounds "did not make any sense" and issued a disciplinary action against him, stating that his actions violated company policy. After a month of feeling targeted, Wimmer was escorted out of the workplace without the opportunity to collect his personal belongings.

WILL argues that Generac violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by discriminating against Wimmer’s religious beliefs. Cara Tolliver, an attorney with WILL, believes the case could set a notable precedent regarding religious freedom in the context of workplace gender identity policies. Generac declined to comment on pending litigation.
