Republicans Conclude State Convention in Wisconsin, Focus on Youth Engagement

ROTTERSCHILD, Wis. — The Wisconsin Republican Party wrapped up its state convention on Saturday at the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center, bringing together state and local leaders to strategize for the upcoming elections.

Representative Derrick Van Orden, who represents Wisconsin’s 3rd congressional district, addressed attendees, emphasizing the party’s appeal to younger voters. "The youth want to live in a free and prosperous society," he stated, attributing their growing support to discontent with the Biden administration’s policies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, data from November’s presidential election showed more students at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse voted for Donald Trump compared to 2020, highlighting a shift in political dynamics among younger demographics.

As the state braces for crucial elections, including the governor’s race, Republicans aim to solidify these trends. Van Orden also urged Congressional Republicans to rally behind Trump’s budget proposal, despite some objections from within the party about its spending levels.

The convention signals a strategic focus for the GOP as they prepare to engage with constituents and aim for electoral victories in the coming year.
