Stanford’s Varsity Eight Shines at Spring Race Day
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The Stanford Cardinal rowing team hosted a successful spring race day on Saturday, highlighted by a dominant performance from its third-ranked varsity eight boat. The team triumphed over the Wisconsin Badgers, finishing the race in 6:47.94 – a remarkable 17.88 seconds ahead of their competitors, who clocked in at 7:05.82.
The day’s events began with the varsity four category, where Wisconsin claimed victory with a time of 7:49.92, outpacing Stanford’s time of 7:59.61. The Badgers continued their strong performance by winning the doubles race as well, finishing in 8:03.12, while Stanford followed with a time of 8:22.12, falling behind by 19 seconds.
Despite the setbacks in earlier events, the highlight for Stanford was undoubtedly the varsity eight victory, showcasing the team’s strength and competitive spirit. The lineup for the victorious race included coxswain Marrisa Chow and rowers Lauren Koester, Grace Padula, Hannah Justicz, Jordan Stock, Brooke Ruszkiewicz, Charlotte Burnham, Elle Rosenfeld, and Sophie Molins.
The Cardinal will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next meet, hosting Boston University on Sunday, April 27, in Redwood City, CA.
