FREDONIA, Wis. (WFRV) — After a tense 36-hour standoff, authorities have successfully taken a heavily armed suspect into custody. The incident, which began Thursday evening when residents reported gunfire in the area, escalated quickly as the suspect threatened law enforcement during negotiations.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the standoff started around 8:30 p.m. on May 8. Following reports of multiple gunshots, officers approached the suspect’s residence on Fox Glen Road, where he admitted to firing weapons and warned that he would shoot anyone who approached. Throughout the standoff, he aimed firearms at a law enforcement armored vehicle and made explicit threats to kill officers.

By 11:30 a.m. on May 10, the situation was resolved peacefully, with no further threat to the public. Local roads remain closed as the investigation continues, with law enforcement expressing gratitude to the Village of Fredonia for their support.

Multiple agencies, including SWAT teams from Washington and Milwaukee counties, provided assistance during the lengthy standoff. Authorities continue to ensure community safety and are urging residents to stay away from the area.
