Mitchell Pinta Named to Sports Business Journal’s "40 Under 40" List for 2025
MADISON, Wis. – Mitchell Pinta, Wisconsin’s Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Revenue Officer, has earned a spot on the prestigious "40 Under 40" list by the Sports Business Journal (SBJ) for 2025. Featured in the March 31 issue, he will be profiled in the June 16 edition, joining a select group of leading executives in the sports industry.
Since its inception in 1999, SBJ has celebrated nearly 900 influential leaders for their significant contributions to sports. Pinta stands out as the only collegiate administrator recognized this year, highlighting his impact on both collegiate and professional sports.
Pinta’s journey to Wisconsin Athletics began after a successful 14-year tenure with the NFL League office in New York. In 2022, he took on the role of Deputy Athletic Director, where he has successfully directed various sectors, including revenue generation, brand marketing, and legal affairs.
In his three years at Wisconsin, Pinta has spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives that have increased ticket revenue and fundraising efforts dramatically. His leadership has led to record ticket sales for football games, marking the highest number of sellouts in 15 years, as well as unprecedented revenue growth for the volleyball program. Furthermore, Pinta’s fundraising team recently achieved over $90 million for the "Building Champions" campaign, aimed at constructing a new indoor practice facility.
Pinta has also excelled in expanding partnerships with major brands like Gatorade and Pepsi, introducing alcohol sales at athletic venues, and reviving concert events at Camp Randall Stadium for the first time in 28 years, including performances by Coldplay and Morgan Wallen this summer.
The 2025 "40 Under 40" honorees will convene at the annual awards ceremony on November 21, 2025, at Pier Sixty in New York City, celebrating their remarkable achievements.
