Mild Start to Mother’s Day Weekend with Temperature Shifts Ahead
Southeastern Wisconsin is kicking off Mother’s Day weekend with mild temperatures, but a shift in winds is expected to bring cooler conditions. Overnight lows settled in the 50s and lower 60s, but as winds shift to the northeast today, gusts of 25-30 mph will lead to a temperature drop, particularly along the lakefront.
While inland areas may reach mid to upper 60s this afternoon, evening temperatures are forecasted to drop into the upper 30s and lower 40s. Those heading out for Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday should be prepared with a jacket, as high temperatures near the lake will only reach the lower 60s, while inland locations could see highs in the mid-70s.
Next week, a shift to southerly winds will usher in warmer conditions, with highs in Milwaukee climbing to the upper 60s and inland areas reaching the mid to upper 70s. Light showers are possible on Tuesday, while a more substantial chance for rain and storms is anticipated late Thursday into Friday.
