Wisconsin Football Cornerback Reveals New Transfer Destination

Former Wisconsin Cornerback Jay Harper Transfers to Louisiana-Monroe

Former Wisconsin Badgers cornerback Jay Harper has officially announced his commitment to the University of Louisiana-Monroe (ULM) after entering the transfer portal on April 23. Harper, a three-star recruit from the class of 2024, was initially ranked as the No. 715 overall player and the 61st cornerback in his class. Despite his potential, Harper did not see any game action during his single season at Wisconsin.

Harper is among six players who departed the Badgers during the spring transfer window, which has seen an influx of movement. Other notable departures include tight end Tanner Koziol, who transferred to Houston, wide receiver Mark Hamper to Cal, offensive lineman Derek Jensen to Iowa State, long snapper Eli Stein to Cincinnati, and wide receiver Quincy Burroughs, who is yet to reveal his new destination.

The redshirt freshman cornerback brings four years of eligibility to the ULM program, which finished the 2024 season with a 5-7 record and is on the hunt for its first winning season since 2012. In contrast, Wisconsin has bolstered its cornerback position with returning starters Ricardo Hallman and Nyzier Fourqurean, along with transfers D’Yoni Hill and Geimere Latimer.

While the Badgers successfully addressed several roster needs during the transfer window—including acquiring a new long snapper and potential starters at left tackle and tight end—the cornerback position remains well-stocked despite Harper’s exit. Harper’s decision marks another significant chapter in the ongoing trend of former Wisconsin players seeking opportunities elsewhere.
