The suspect arrested for stealing Secretary Kristi Noem’s purse is in the U.S. illegally, according to Ed Martin, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. The theft occurred at Capital Burger, a Washington, D.C. restaurant, when a masked man slipped past two plainclothes Secret Service officers and sat near Noem. He covertly dragged her purse closer and then quickly left with it, evading the protective agents. The stolen purse contained $3,000 in cash, Noem’s DHS access badge, passport, credit cards, and other personal items. The investigation is being conducted by the Metropolitan Police and the Secret Service. Noem, when approached for comments during a public event, stated she couldn’t provide details as the situation remains unresolved.
