Recently released police bodycam footage captures a tense encounter involving bestselling author Jillian Lauren Shriner, who is also the wife of Weezer’s bassist. The incident occurred in her Eagle Rock neighborhood as LAPD officers were searching for suspects involved in a hit-and-run. The video reveals officers urging Shriner to drop her handgun, with commands like, “Put the gun down!” and “Ma’am, we’re trying to help you!” During the standoff, one officer noted that Shriner had lifted the gun and even racked it, indicating it was loaded.
Within moments of this escalation, gunfire erupted as two police officers fired at Shriner, hitting her in the shoulder. The chaotic scene recorded at least eight gunshots, but fortunately, no officers were harmed. Shriner, 51, was subsequently treated for a graze wound and taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer.
Following her arrest, she posted a $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 30. As of now, the prosecutors have not yet filed criminal charges, as they continue to review the incident’s evidence. The footage also includes security video from Shriner’s home, showing her exiting with the firearm. Shriner’s manager has not commented on the situation.
