Atlanta Selects Wisconsin Offensive Lineman in Seventh Round

Atlanta Falcons Select Wisconsin OL Jack Nelson in NFL Draft

GREEN BAY (WLUK) – The Atlanta Falcons made a strategic selection in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, picking Wisconsin offensive lineman Jack Nelson with the 218th overall pick. Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 314 pounds, Nelson is praised for his solid performance, having started 50 games during his college career at Wisconsin.

As the first Badger selected in this year’s draft, Nelson’s pick reflects growing recognition of his potential, although he had been projected as a fifth-round choice before slipping to the Falcons. His college tenure was marked by commendable play, earning him honorable mention honors in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Now, Nelson will join the Falcons, offering his skills to bolster the offensive line and provide protection for second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. This selection also continues a family legacy, as Nelson’s father, Todd, played offensive line at Wisconsin and was drafted by the Phoenix Cardinals in 1989. The Falcons will be counting on Nelson to contribute immediately as they build for the upcoming season.
