Last year, Wisconsin planted more than 10 million trees

Wisconsin made significant progress in planting trees and conserving forestland in 2024, according to the Trillion Trees Pledge 2024 Annual Report released on Earth Day. The state planted nearly 10.7 million trees and conserved over 57,000 acres, bringing it closer to its goal of planting 100 million trees and conserving 125,000 acres by 2030. Since the first executive order in 2021, Wisconsin has planted more than 42 million trees, over 40% of the way to its ultimate goal. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources supplied 6.4 million trees last year, contributing to the effort. Governor Tony Evers expressed pride in the state’s progress, noting the importance of forests to Wisconsin’s heritage, economy, and future success. In addition to tree planting, the state acquired the Pelican River Forest conservation easement, protecting 70,000 acres for public enjoyment and outdoor recreation. Overall, Wisconsin is on track to meet its ambitious goals and continue its conservation efforts for the benefit of the environment and its residents.
