21-year-old Missouri State football standout Todric McGee passes away


Missouri State University safety Todric McGee, 21, passed away from a possible accidental and self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to authorities. McGee was found at his home by police responding to a wellness check request on Friday morning and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The university confirmed his death on Saturday, stating that he had died early that morning from injuries sustained the previous day.

McGee was entering his fifth season with the Bears and was the starting safety in 2023 and 2024, earning all-conference honors in 2023. Head coach Ryan Beard expressed shock and mourning over the loss of McGee, asking for privacy for both the family and the football team. McGee, who grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and graduated from Wichita Northwest High School, was remembered as a valued member of the football family.

The Springfield Police Department is conducting an active investigation into McGee’s death. The university and football team are asking for prayers for McGee and his loved ones during this difficult time.
