Search for missing boater on Wisconsin River yields improved conditions or Search for missing boater on Wisconsin River shows signs of improvement

Authorities in Wisconsin Dells are continuing their search for missing boater Francesco Di Filippo, as conditions on the Wisconsin River improve. Police Chief Nicholas Brinker has stated that search efforts have shifted south on the river, near the Indian Trails boat launch. Brinker emphasized the need for safety on the river, as conditions can change rapidly and become dangerous.

He advised anyone on the river to wear a life jacket and be aware of their surroundings, especially if they are not experienced navigating the river. Brinker warned against venturing out onto the river in canoes or kayaks, as the water is still high and fast-moving.

Di Filippo went missing on April 3 after his boat capsized near the Kilbourn Dam. While his cousin managed to reach shore, his grandfather tragically lost his life in the incident. Recovery efforts on moving water are said to be inherently dangerous, and authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and avoid putting themselves and others at risk.
