Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell has received a one-year contract extension, extending his deal through the 2031 season. The extension was approved by the school’s athletic board and comes after Fickell led the team to a 5-7 record in 2024, ending a streak of 22 consecutive bowl appearances. Fickell has a 13-13 record during his tenure at Wisconsin, with his contract now running through March 31, 2032.
Fickell originally signed a seven-year contract with an average annual salary of $7.8 million when he was hired from Cincinnati in 2022. He has received a one-year extension after each of his first two seasons on the job. Prior to joining Wisconsin, Fickell had a successful stint at Cincinnati, where he went 57-18 in six seasons, including a College Football Playoff berth in 2021.
In addition to Fickell, the athletic board approved one-year extensions for volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield, women’s soccer coach Paula Wilkins, and men’s soccer coach Neil Jones. All three coaches are on five-year deals that now run through January 31, 2030. This latest round of extensions reflects the school’s commitment to stability and leadership within its athletic programs.
