The Federal Aviation Administration has issued an emergency order grounding New York Helicopter Charter, the company responsible for the sightseeing tour that crashed into the Hudson River last week, killing all six people on board. The decision to ground the company was made in part due to the firing of the director of operations. The Bell 206 helicopter crashed into the river at 3:17 p.m. on Thursday, resulting in the tragic deaths of Siemens executive Agustín Escobar, his wife, their three children, and pilot Sean Johnson. Following the crash, New York Helicopter Charter voluntarily ceased operations. The FAA is currently investigating the incident and conducting a review of the company’s operations under the Certificate Holder Evaluation Program.
