Local Pastor Opposes Candidacy of School Superintendent, Urges Congregation to Act
Deer Park, Texas – Central Baptist Church Pastor Doug Harris recently spoke out against Dr. Tiffany Regan’s candidacy for Deer Park ISD’s superintendent position, citing concerns about her personal life. During a sermon, Harris warned that Regan’s leadership could bring “wokeism, liberalism, and sexual immorality” to the school district, urging his congregation to oppose her appointment.
In a follow-up video posted on Facebook, Harris mentioned meeting with Dr. Regan to express his concerns, rooted in his interpretation of morality and love. Dr. Regan, a long-time educator in the district with significant experience, was named the lone finalist for the superintendent position after a thorough selection process.
Members of the public have until April 4 to provide feedback on the appointment, as School Board President Jason Cable defended the board’s decision to select Dr. Regan based on her leadership qualities and dedication to student success. The board emphasized their commitment to a fair and legally compliant hiring process that focuses on qualifications rather than personal characteristics unrelated to job performance.
