Wisconsin Badgers legend and future NFL Hall of Fame defensive end J.J. Watt is making a big change this fall by joining the broadcast booth. CBS announced that Watt will be part of the network’s No. 2 NFL broadcast team with Ian Eagle, behind the leading duo of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo.
Watt retired after the 2022 season and has since worked in an in-studio role for CBS. During his 12-year NFL career, he played for the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals, earning numerous accolades including three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, five Pro-Bowl selections, and five First-Team All-Pro honors.
After a successful appearance in the Netflix booth last season, Watt is now transitioning to the broadcast booth full-time, replacing Charles Davis on CBS. Davis will be moving to the network’s leading college team. Watt, who remains an avid fan of Wisconsin athletics, shared the news on social media and expressed his excitement for this new opportunity.
The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand and Chris Vannini first reported the shuffling of broadcast teams at CBS. Watt’s addition to the NFL broadcasting scene adds a legendary player’s perspective to the analysis, offering fans a unique insight into the game. Fans can expect to hear Watt’s commentary on NFL games in the upcoming 2025 season.
