Wisconsin Athletics appoints new head coach for women’s basketball team

Former Missouri women’s basketball coach, Robin Pingeton, has been named as the new head coach for the Wisconsin women’s basketball program, Wisconsin Athletics announced on Tuesday. With 30 years of coaching experience, Pingeton has earned 585 wins and led Missouri to 10 postseason appearances, including four NCAA Tournaments.

Wisconsin Director of Athletics Chris McIntosh expressed his excitement in welcoming Pingeton to the program, citing her accomplishments both on and off the court. Pingeton, who hails from the Midwest, is looking forward to applying her experience in the Southeastern Conference to the Wisconsin team and evolving with the changing landscape of college athletics.

Pingeton’s hiring comes after former head coach Marissa Moseley resigned for personal reasons after completing her fourth season with the Badgers. Pingeton expressed enthusiasm in joining a program with a rich tradition of athletics success and is eager to get started with her husband, Rich, and their two sons in Wisconsin.

Pingeton’s impressive coaching history and successful track record have earned her praise as one of 14 “Power Four” conferences coaches with over 500 victories. McIntosh and the Wisconsin Athletics department are confident that Pingeton’s leadership will bring continued success to the women’s basketball program and are looking forward to the upcoming season under her guidance.
