On Monday, the Miyapur police requested the Kukatpally court to add around 20 organisers to the list of accused in the illegal betting scandal that previously only included celebrities promoting betting apps. This decision was made following the booking of several top actors and social media influencers for promoting such apps and websites earlier in March.
The police have registered the case under various sections of the Telangana Gaming Act and the IT Act, based on a complaint by businessman PM Phanindra Sharma. Sharma stated that he noticed numerous celebrities and influencers promoting illegal betting apps and websites on platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
The crackdown on illegal betting continues, with authorities now targeting organisers along with promoters in this case. It is believed that some of the accused promoted multiple websites or apps, while others only promoted one. The complaint identified celebrities like Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, Manchu Lakshmi, Pranitha, and Nidhhi Agerwal as being involved in promoting these illegal activities.
The investigation into this scandal is ongoing, and authorities are working to bring all those involved to justice. This crackdown serves as a warning to others involved in similar activities that promoting illegal betting apps and websites will not be tolerated.
