Wisconsin claims victory in the 2025 National Collegiate Women’s Hockey Championship


Wisconsin’s women’s ice hockey team secured their fourth national championship in six seasons and eighth overall in program history after defeating Ohio State 4-3 in overtime in the 2025 NC women’s ice hockey national championship. The tournament featured 11 teams and kicked off with regional semifinal games hosted by the top three seeds, leading to the finals where Wisconsin and Ohio State faced off in a rematch for the third consecutive year.

The victory added to Wisconsin’s dominant history in the NC women’s ice hockey championship. Meanwhile, Ohio State had won the previous year’s tournament in 2024. The tournament bracket and schedule highlighted key matchups leading up to the Frozen Four and championship game on March 23.

In other women’s ice hockey news, the NCAA Division III women’s ice hockey championship selection show and bracket were announced, with 12 teams set to compete starting on March 15. The National Collegiate Women’s Ice Hockey Committee also revealed the field of 11 teams for the 24th National Collegiate Women’s Ice Hockey Championships.
