I would rather not have a picture.

President Donald Trump criticized a painting of himself in the Colorado State Capitol, claiming it was purposely distorted. He demanded that Governor Jared Polis remove the portrait, stating that he would prefer not having a picture at all than having this one. Polis’s spokesperson responded by saying the governor was surprised by Trump’s interest in the artwork and that they are always looking to improve the visitor experience. The artist, Sarah Boardman, has painted portraits of various prominent figures, including former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush. Trump mentioned that Obama’s portrait looks wonderful. The portrait of Trump, done in oil on canvas, was presented in 2019. Boardman said she was honored to paint Trump’s portrait and thanked everyone who attended the unveiling event. She did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Trump’s criticism of the painting adds to his long list of foes, including Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Rosie O’Donnell.
