A fatal crash on 18th Street in Barron, Wisconsin resulted in the death of a 54-year-old man and serious injuries to two others. The accident, which occurred on Tuesday morning, involved a single vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed when it went off the road and struck trees. The driver, a 34-year-old from Wilson, Wisconsin, and a 44-year-old passenger from Florida were extricated from the vehicle and flown to Regions Hospital for treatment. The front passenger, the 54-year-old from Wilson, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Barron County Sheriff’s Department is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash. The crash took place near 8 1/2 Avenue, south of Barron and west of Chetek. Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald urged drivers to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits to prevent such tragedies in the future.
