Marisa Moseley resigns from Wisconsin following fourth consecutive losing season

Wisconsin women’s basketball coach Marisa Moseley has resigned after four seasons with a record of 47-75. The program has been struggling in the Big Ten for over a decade, with the Badgers going 13-16 this season. Moseley did not win more than one-third of her Big Ten games in any season. She stepped down for personal reasons and thanked the university, student-athletes, coaches, and fans for their support.

Associate head coach Margaret McKeon will serve as interim head coach while Wisconsin searches for a new coach. Moseley faced allegations from a former player, Tessa Towers, who claimed mistreatment by the coaching staff. Despite the controversy, Moseley stated that her players’ well-being always came before basketball.

Moseley came to Wisconsin from Boston University, where she had a winning record. Wisconsin had its last NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010 and has struggled to compete in the Big Ten. The university did not reference Towers’ allegations in the announcement of Moseley’s departure.
