The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking public input on the proposed duck hunting season framework for 2026-2031. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s new format allows states to review and change duck hunting zones and splits every five years, rather than annually. The DNR will hold public meetings in La Crosse, Rice Lake, and Appleton, as well as a virtual meeting, to present information on the proposed framework. Duck hunters can attend these meetings or provide feedback online, through email, or by mail. Comments must be submitted by March 30.
The meetings will take place in March, with the virtual session scheduled for March 19. Hunters can find more information on the DNR website and submit comments to the Bureau of Wildlife Management in Madison. The proposed 2026-2031 duck hunting season options are available on the DNR’s waterfowl hunting webpage. This public input process allows hunters to have a say in shaping the future of duck hunting in Wisconsin.
