EAST LANSING, Mich. – In a thrilling matchup, No. 8 Michigan State defeated No. 11 Wisconsin 71-62 on Sunday, extending their winning streak to five games. Jaden Akins led the Spartans with 19 points while Jaxon Kohler had a double-double with 10 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.
Despite Wisconsin’s early lead, Michigan State’s freshman Jase Richardson stepped up with 11 points, six assists, and five rebounds to help secure the victory. John Blackwell was the top scorer for the Badgers with 19 points, but John Tonje was limited to just 11 points in the second half.
Key plays by Michigan State’s Richardson, including two assists and a steal in a 17-second span, helped the Spartans take a decisive lead late in the game. Additionally, the Badgers struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 5 of 32 on 3-point attempts.
